Year 5 have been involved in lots of eco-friendly projects this week, thanks to our friend Lydia from Groundwork. Firstly, we learned all about food waste, and how it impacts our environment. Did you know, in the UK we throw out 20 million slices of bread every day? We couldn’t believe it! Our summer term Eco Warriors then worked with Lydia to come up with ideas for reducing food waste in our school. They made posters and even wrote songs to spread the message!

Then, on Friday, Year 5 carried out another litter pick to keep our school environment clean and safe. The children learned how to use the litter pickers and safely sort the rubbish that we found.

Well done to Year 5 for working so hard this week to keep our school sustainable and clean!
