Year 5 English

June 26, 2026

Year 5 have been learning about William Shakespeare, specifically his play ‘The Tempest’. We learned that Shakespeare invented many words we still use today, including ‘bedroom’ ‘eyeball’ and ‘moonbeam’. Shakespeare was also very creative with his insults! In English, year 5 got to write their own Shakespearean insults and face each other in a roast battle. The children were so creative and performed their insults with gusto!
